Flandes (en neerlandés: Vlaanderen ⓘ) es una región de Europa Occidental que comprende principalmente la mitad septentrional de la actual Bélgica, aunque también partes adyacentes de las vecinas Francia y Países Bajos. Bruges (/ b r uː ʒ / ⓘ BROOZH, French: ⓘ; Dutch: Brugge ⓘ; German: Brügge [ˈbʁʏɡə] ⓘ) is the capital and largest city of the province of West Flanders in the Flemish Region of Belgium, in the northwest of the country. It is the sixth most populous city in the country.
The original medieval county of Flanders spread from the area of Bruges, and later had its capital in nearby Ghent. Its core territories came to include French Flanders, now in France, the Belgian provinces of West and East Flanders, and part of the modern province of Hainaut.
