Flandes (en neerlandés: Vlaanderen ⓘ) es una región de Europa Occidental que comprende principalmente la mitad septentrional de la actual Bélgica, aunque también partes adyacentes de las vecinas Francia y Países Bajos. Bruges (/ b r uː ʒ / ⓘ BROOZH, French: ⓘ; Dutch: Brugge ⓘ; German: Brügge [ˈbʁʏɡə] ⓘ) is the capital and largest city of the province of West Flanders in the Flemish Region of Belgium, in the northwest of the country. It is the sixth most populous city in the country.
The geography of the historic County of Flanders only partially overlaps with the present-day region of Flanders in Belgium, but even there, it extends beyond the present provinces of West Flanders and East Flanders. Some of the historic county is now part of France and the Netherlands.
