Biography. Jan Albers. *1971 Wuppertal, grew up in Namibia. lives and works in Düsseldorf. Jan Albers is among the artists for whom painting is actually no longer acute. And yet, he continues engaging in painting, and resorts to creating spatial works with the aid of metal, wood, polystyrene or ceramic pieces before overpainting these.

Jan Albers (born 27 March 1952 in Veldhoven) is a former Dutch field hockey player, who played for the Dutch Men's National Field Hockey Squad, EMHC, HC Tilburg and HC Klein Zwitserland.
Jan Albers, a contemporary artist, transcends traditional painting and embraces a multidisciplinary approach. His spatial artworks, crafted from metal, wood, polystyrene, and ceramics, are overlaid with paint, blurring the lines between deconstruction and reconstruction.
Jan Albers (b.1971 Wuppertal, Germany) lives and works in Düsseldorf, Germany and attended the Kunstakademie Düsseldorf from 1992-98. He was the recipient of the Pollock Krasner Foundation Award, New York, USA in 2006 and the Dahlmann Prize from Leopold-Hoesch Museum & Papiermuseum Düren in 2013.
In parallel to the large-scale exhibition “Homage to Marianne Langen”, the Langen Foundation is now periodically presenting monographic exhibitions by contemporary artists in the so-called “Japan Room”. The first artist to make an appearance is Jan Albers (born 1971, lives in Düsseldorf).
