Joseph Horovitz (26 May 1926 – 9 February 2022) was an Austrian-born British composer and conductor best known for his 1970 pop cantata Captain Noah and his Floating Zoo, which achieved widespread popularity in schools.

21 de feb. de 2022 · Joseph Horovitz, the composer, conductor, pianist and teacher, famous for his popular cantata Captain Noah and his Floating Zoo, theme music for the TV series Rumpole of the Bailey and many skilful works for Brass Band, died peacefully on 9 February 2022, aged ninety-five.

Born in Vienna, Horovitz attended New College, Oxford, and the Royal College of Music. Among his many teachers was Nadia Boulanger, with whom he spent a year of study in Paris.
