Wittmund is a Landkreis (district) in the northwestern part of Lower Saxony, Germany. It is situated in East Frisia, on the North Sea coast. Neighboring districts are (from the east clockwise) Friesland, Leer and Aurich.

Wittmund liegt zwischen Aurich und Jever im Nordosten Ostfrieslands. Vom Stadtkern bis zur Küste sind es rund 15 Kilometer. Flächenmäßig gehört Wittmund mit 210,13 Quadratkilometern zu den zehn größten Städten Niedersachsens und liegt in einem deutschlandweiten Vergleich auf Rang 82.
Wittmund is a town of 21,000 inhabitants located in Germany's historic coastal district of East Frisia, between the towns of Aurich and Jever. The town's borough covers an area of 52,000 acres (210 km 2) which make it one of the largest boroughs in Lower Saxony .
