Martin Luther King Jr. Academic Magnet for Health Sciences and Engineering at Pearl High School (or simply MLK Magnet) is a public magnet high school located in Nashville, Tennessee. MLK includes grades 7–12, and students enter through a lottery process similar to the other magnet schools in Nashville.
It was one of two black high schools in Nashville, (rival Cameron High School being the other) with Pearl accepting its first white student in 1971. The original Pearl High School building built in 1937 (a historical site) has been reconfigured as Martin Luther King Magnet at Pearl High School .

19 de jul. de 2016 · The art deco script etched into the front of this building still reads PEARL HIGH SCHOOL, but the modern marquee on the street corner lets a visitor know this place is now known as Martin Luther King Jr. Magnet High School. (The red brick structure was built in 1937, replacing an earlier building.)

14 de nov. de 2016 · The city built the Pearl-Cohn facility on the former sites of two black schools, Washington Junior High School and Ford Greene Elementary School, in North Nashville and converted the old Pearl High School into Martin Luther King Jr. Magnet School.
Pearl High also was one of two major black schools in Nashville built with Public Works Administration funds during the New Deal of the 1930s. In late 2001, the school changed its name to Martin Luther King Magnet at Pearl High School. 15 p.
