Terry is an unincorporated community in Lawrence County, South Dakota, United States. [1] History. The Black Hills are home to many gold deposits. The gold around Terry was non free milling, or visible to the eye, and required more processing to be viable.
11 de mar. de 2011 · By most accounts, Martha Jane Cannary -- better known as Calamity Jane -- died in 1903 at the Calloway Hotel in Terry. She was 51 years old. Apparently Jane had requested that she be buried in Deadwood near Wild Bill Hickok, which is exactly what happened. Some reckon that Hickok probably wouldn't have been too keen on that arrangement.

Terry Peak is the fifth highest summit in the Black Hills, and probably is the only other peak that could rival Harney Peak for the number of visitors over a year’s time. However, the essence of such visits is of an entirely different nature than that of Harney Peak’s usual visitors.
