The Château de Saint-Germain-en-Laye (French pronunciation: [ʃɑto də sɛ̃ ʒɛʁmɛ̃ ɑ̃ lɛ]) is a former royal palace in the commune of Saint-Germain-en-Laye, in the département of Yvelines, about 19 km west of Paris, France.
Le château de Saint-Germain-en-Laye, résidence royale pendant plusieurs siècles, lieu de naissance de plusieurs souverains, a été restauré par Eugène Millet à partir de 1862. Depuis cette date, à l’initiative de Napoléon III, il abrite le Musée des antiquités nationales, devenu Musée d'archéologie nationale en 2005.
Le château de Saint-Germain-en-Laye peut faire l’objet d’une visite en groupe ou individuelle. La cour intérieure du château est l’une des plus belles cours de la Renaissance et peut-être aujourd’hui visitée. Les terrasses et les jardins du château peuvent aussi être parcourus.

With the inner courtyard and the moats, the castle covers an area of 12,000 m2. The two colours of the walls form the special feature of the castle.
