Scream (1996) earned worldwide success and acclaim as did Arquette for his role as lovable simple cop "Dewey". His role proved to be so popular that in the original script his character was meant to die, but due to test audiences response to Dewey the script was changed and he returned for both Scream 2 (1997) and Scream 3 (2000) .

David Arquette is an actor, former professional wrestler, fashion designer, director and producer. He portrayed the deuteragonist role of Dewey Riley in the first five Scream films (1996-2022).
•David Arquette was married to co-star Courteney Cox. They met on the set of Scream, began dating during production of Scream 2 and had arrived back from their honeymoon just in time for filming of Scream 3. They separated in 2010 shortly after filming of Scream 4 had ended.
•He and Courteney made their own motion film production company named Coquette Productions.
•David Arquette's character Dewey is specified as being 25 years old, approximately 7 years older than most other lead characters who are in high school. However, Arquette is roughly the same age as most of his costars and is actually slightly younger than Skeet Ulrich, Matthew Lillard and Jamie Kennedy, who all portray themselves as high school students.
•David also reprised his role as Dewey in Creed's "What If" music video, timed to coincide with the release of Scream 3.

David Arquette (born September 8, 1971) is an American actor, producer and retired professional wrestler. As an actor, he is known for playing Dewey Riley in the slasher franchise Scream (1996–2022), which won him a Teen Choice Award and two Blockbuster Entertainment Awards.
