Located in central Oxford, New College is a supportive and encouraging community, set in an environment which allows students and staff, from all backgrounds, to flourish.
New College was founded in 1379 by William of Wykeham (1324-1404), Bishop of Winchester, as The College of St Mary of Winchester in Oxford. It very soon became known as New College to distinguish it from an earlier Oxford college (Oriel, founded 1326) also dedicated to the Virgin Mary.
El New College es uno de los colleges que constituyen la Universidad de Oxford en el Reino Unido. Su nombre oficial es, College of St Mary, el mismo que el del antiguo Oriel College; de ahí que se le denominase “New College of St Mary”, y ahora se le llama “New College”.
New College is one of the constituent colleges of the University of Oxford in the United Kingdom. Founded in 1379 by William of Wykeham in conjunction with Winchester College as its feeder school, New College was one of the first colleges in the university to admit and tutor undergraduate students.
A vuestra izquierda se encuentra el césped de Holywell Quad, mientras que si miráis a la derecha podréis ver los New Buildings del New College. Pero no os dejéis engañar por su nombre, ya que la estructura no se ha tocado desde la época victoriana .

The college has an exceptionally rich cultural, sporting and musical life. Our award-winning music practice building (the Clore Music Studios), our fantastic sports ground, and our brand new Gradel Quadrangles are all just a few minutes from the main College site.
Un college espectacular y de los más antiguos. Se puede ver la capilla, preciosa, yendo a los "Evensongs", los oficios litúrgicos cantados por el coro de niños y adultos. Dependiendo de los días, puede ser a las 17.45 o a las 18.15. Los evensongs de los colleges de Oxford suelen ser buenos, pero el de New College es el mejor.
