Gebhard Leberecht von Blücher, Fürst von Wahlstatt (German pronunciation: [ˈɡɛphaʁt ˈleːbəʁɛçt fɔn ˈblʏçɐ]; 21 December 1742 – 12 September 1819), Graf (count), later elevated to Fürst (sovereign prince) von Wahlstatt, was a Prussian Generalfeldmarschall (field marshal).
One of Wellington's ADCs reaches Blücher at 11 pm on 17 June, informing the Prussian general that the British general would fight a defensive battle at Waterloo. Blücher, after consultation with Gneisenau, resolves to send Bülow's 4th corps to attack the enemy's right flank.

A French army under the command of Napoleon was defeated by two armies of the Seventh Coalition.
Although the Blücher was much improved compared to its predecessors, it got obsolete with the introduction of the British Invincible class battlecruisers, and despite this knowledge, the Blücher operated together with other battlecruisers in the fleet to increase the number of ships available for the reconnaissance forces.
SMS Blücher was the last armored cruiser built by the German Empire. She was designed to match what German intelligence incorrectly believed to be the specifications of the British Invincible-class battlecruisers.
