The festival will open with Wagner’s “Tristan und Isolde” starring Andreas Schager, Günther Groissböck, Camilla Nylund, Olafur Sigurdarson, Birger Radde, and Ekaterina Gubanova. Semyon Bychkov conducts the production by Thorleifur Örn Arnarsson.
For the first time in the history of the Bayreuth Festival, there will be more female than male conductors in the pit. In 2024, Simone Young will conduct the Ring, stepping in for Philippe Jordan, who unfortunately had to cancel. The lineup for this year also includes Oksana Lyniv, Nathalie Stutzmann, Semyon Bychkov, and Pablo Heras-Casado.
