Great Ormond Street Hospital was founded by Dr Charles West, who was driven by the shockingly high level of infant mortality in London. It was the first hospital in the UK dedicated solely to the treatment of children. GOSH started life in a 17th century townhouse with just 10 beds and two physicians.
About us. Every day, around 750 seriously ill children and young people from across the UK are seen at GOSH. Every day, doctors and nurses battle the most complex illnesses, and the brightest minds come together to achieve pioneering medical breakthroughs.
