Carl XVI Gustaf (Carl Gustaf Folke Hubertus; born 30 April 1946) is King of Sweden. Carl Gustaf was born during the reign of his paternal great-grandfather, King Gustaf V. He is the youngest child and only son of Prince Gustaf Adolf, Duke of Västerbotten, and Princess Sibylla of Saxe-Coburg and Gotha.

Carl XVI Gustaf, Carl Gustaf Folke Hubertus, född 30 april 1946 på Haga slott i Solna, Stockholms län, är Sveriges konung och statschef sedan 15 september 1973 då han efterträdde sin farfar Gustaf VI Adolf. Han är son till arvsprins Gustaf Adolf och prinsessan Sibylla. Han gifte sig 1976 med Silvia Sommerlath.
Carl XVI Gustaf is the seventh king of the House of Bernadotte and the longest reigning monarch in Swedish history. The King's motto is: “For Sweden – With the times”. HM The King's duties as Head of State. The King or Queen who occupies the throne of Sweden in accordance with the Act of Succession shall be the Head of State.
Carl Gustaf took the royal oath in 1973 aged 27, succeeding his grandfather King Gustav VI Adolf. He has thus reigned for longer than any other Swedish king. Today, Sweden is a constitutional monarchy and Carl XVI Gustaf's role as monarch is essentially representative, as a unifying symbol of the country.
