GhostKönig is a popular ship within the Call of Duty fandom. Its popularity was rather fast rising. It mainly began as a joke ship as both men are similar in the fact that they wear masks and are tall in stature, although quickly became shipped more seriously. Both Ghost and König are breakout characters from the series, leading to their ship rising within the fandom.
Due to the lack of interaction König has with Ghost in canon, GhostKönig is very heavy in fanon content. Fan works often have König joining Ghost’s unit, whether officially or as an ally. Canonically König has social anxiety. This is frequently used in fan works as well, with Ghost taking the lead/control of most things, whether this is SFW or NSFW content. With these two characters, NSFW and forms of violence is increasingly popular. However, in what little canon they do have, they are enemies. This is far less common, though in some fan works König will actively try to hurt him.
While GhostKönig is as popular as it is, GhostSoapKönig is also a well enjoyed ship within the fandom. Ghost’s most popular ship is GhostSoap, leading to Soap being a very active feature within GhostKönig works. In addition, Körangi, König’s major ship with Horangi, is also a feature among GhostKönig works, though less notably compared to Soap.
