Lingen. Lingen is a large independent town in the west of Niedersachsen (Lower Saxony). With around 57,000 residents, it is the largest town in the district of Emsland, and has become the region’s economic and cultural hub. The town’s history dates back more than a thousand years to 975, when “Liinga” received its first official mention.
