En 1909, la Academia Sueca decidió conceder a Selma Lagerlöf el Premio Nobel de Literatura, «en reconocimiento al altivo idealismo, la vívida imaginación y la percepción espiritual que caracterizan a todas sus obras». Selma Lagerlöf (born Nov. 20, 1858, Mårbacka, Sweden—died March 16, 1940, Mårbacka) was a novelist who in 1909 became the first woman and also the first Swedish writer to win the Nobel Prize for Literature.
