  4. 18 de ago. de 2023 · An “urgent dog” is one whose mental and/or physical health has deteriorated significantly while living in the shelter environment. Often, the only humane outcome for urgent dogs is euthanasia unless immediate, long-term placement can be found.

  5. Urgent Pets. Annually, BARC takes in more than 20,000 animals and works hard to find a home for all adoptable pets. Animals become candidates for our Urgent Pets’ lists based on several factors, including, but not limited to, an animal’s physical and mental health, behavior, amount of space available in the shelter, and staffing levels.

  6. Harris County Pets is an open intake municipal animal shelter. We take in approximately 10,000-18,000 animals per year. We have a wide variety of amazing dogs and cats available for adoption. The adoption fee includes spay or neuter surgery, a microchip, a one year Harris County pet license and age appropriate vaccinations, including rabies.
