Historia. Zamość fue fundada en el año 1580 por el Canciller y Hetman (jefe del ejército de la República de las Dos Naciones (formada por Polonia y Lituania) Juan Zamoyski, en la ruta comercial que unía Europa del Oeste y del Norte con el Mar negro.

Zamość today is, in its entirety, classified as a historical monument; it was designated a UNESCO World Heritage site in 1992. The city was incorporated in 1580. For a long period its academy made Zamość the scientific and cultural centre for the region.

La ciudad, fundada en 1580 por la familia aristocrática de los Zamoyski, fue diseñada por el arquitecto italiano Bernardo Morando. El concepto de "ciudad ideal", conocido ya en la antigüedad, pretendía definir las características óptimas para el desarrollo del hombre, teniendo en cuenta su bienestar físico y sus necesidades sociales.
27 de abr. de 2023 · Cuatro siglos después de su fundación (1580), Zamosc era reconocida como Patrimonio de la Humanidad de la Unesco como ejemplo de integridad y autenticidad, gracias también a haber escapado su casco histórico de la destrucción (física) de la II Guerra Mundial, un episodio que, no obstante, también sintió la ciudad y su entorno de forma dramática.
