  1. Duke Georg Alexander of Mecklenburg-Strelitz (Russian: Георгий Георгиевич Мекленбург-Стрелицкий; 6 June 1859 – 5 December 1909) was the eldest of the two surviving sons of Duke Georg August of Mecklenburg-Strelitz and of Grand Duchess Catherine Mikhailovna of Russia.

  3. He has been heir apparent to the headship of the House of Mecklenburg-Strelitz since the death of his grandfather Duke Georg Alexander on 26 January 1996. Since that date he has held the title Hereditary Prince which is the title reserved for the heir apparent.

  4. Duke Georg Alexander succeeded as head of the House of Mecklenburg-Strelitz upon the death of his father on 6 July 1963, however with Mecklenburg being behind the Iron Curtain he was unable to play an active role in the state.
