Doc Hudson, also known as the Fabulous Hudson Hornet, was a Piston Cup racer from 1951 to 1954. From late 2005 to 2009, Doc was the crew chief of 7-time Piston Cup champion Lightning McQueen. Doc was and still is a great inspiration to many racers including The King, Dale Earnhardt Sr, Lightning McQueen, and many others.

The Disney/Pixar film Cars and several spin-off video games featured a 1951 Hornet named Doc Hudson, a retired Piston Cup champion who raced as the "Fabulous Hudson Hornet". He was voiced by Paul Newman , who was an avid auto-racing enthusiast.
In memory of Doc, the Piston Cup Racing Series ' trophy was renamed the Hudson Hornet Piston Cup, and the Racing Museum now contains memorabilia related to Doc, including old newspapers, and Doc's trophies.
