Châteauneuf-du-Pape (French: [ʃɑtonœf dy pap]; Provençal: Castèu-Nòu-de-Papa) is a commune in the Vaucluse department in the Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur region in Southeastern France. The village lies about 3 kilometres (1.9 mi) to the east of the Rhône and 12 kilometres (7.5 mi) north of the town of Avignon .
