Her first marriage was to Donald Lee Laisure on September 2, 1981. Atkins became Laisure's 36th wife, but the two divorced after he sought to marry yet again. Atkins's mug shot, February 2001. In 1987, she married James W. Whitehouse, a graduate of Harvard Law School who was 15 years her junior.
