Here's how curator Kate Nesin describes that show, those works and their enduring legacy in our new book on Stella.
Nationalities. American. Biography. Frank Stella studied at Princeton University and moved to New York in 1958. In his first exhibition in the late fifties, he exhibited black paintings with bands of bare canvas that paralleled the picture edges.
