14 de oct. de 2023 · The story behind his preaching is that St Francis wanted the birds to exclaim the beauty of God and to praise him relentlessly to others. His response from them was for the birds to open their wings and listen intently, with others swooping down to join in and listen.
Inspired by a true story, Invincible recounts the last 48 hours in the life of Marc-Antoine Bernier, a 14-year-old boy on a desperate quest for freedom. ‘St. Francis Preaching to the Birds’ was created in 1299 by Giotto in Proto Renaissance style.
This is the fifteenth of the twenty-eight scenes (twenty-five of which were painted by Giotto) of the Legend of Saint Francis. The two scenes on the entrance wall are the Miracle of the Spring and the Sermon to the Birds, the compositions in which the hand of Giotto is most apparent.

Legend of St Francis. Frescoes by GIOTTO. St Bonaventure described the life of St Francis in a great theological work as an example to the faithful. He divided the saints journey through life into ninety-seven stations, from which twenty-eight scenes were selected for the pictorial narrative, these being further identified by inscriptions.
