28 de may. de 2017 · Nestled between chic cafés on Quai Courbet, and very much minding its own business, the ancient Romanesque chapel dedicated to Saint Peter, patron saint of fishermen, was entirely restored and decorated by the “prince of poets”, Jean Cocteau, and has become an outstanding example of the creative fusion between spirituality and art.
Camille arranges to meet her friend Emily at Quai de l’Amiral Courbet, inside a veritable architectural gem: Chapelle Saint-Pierre. Designed by Jean Cocteau, it is the perfect location for this scene brimful with emotion. And the producers fully understood this, as they use Emily’s entrance to reveal Cocteau’s sumptuous design.
Probably dating back from the 16th century, the chapel was used by 20th-century fishermen as a place to store their material and to solve their differences. The chapel is obvious for its pink, yellow and white façade. Inside, it houses some wonderful frescoes of Saint Peter, painted by Jean Cocteau in 1957.

The trellised balcony that overlooks the sea and Saint Pierre Chapel . This small church inspired Cocteau to return to Villefranche frequently, and in 1956 he created a masterpiece there, one of several he gave to the Cote d’Azur, where he was drawn so often throughout his life.
