Fountain is a readymade sculpture by Marcel Duchamp in 1917, consisting of a porcelain urinal signed "R. Mutt". In April 1917, an ordinary piece of plumbing chosen by Duchamp was submitted for the inaugural exhibition of the Society of Independent Artists, to be staged at the Grand Central Palace in New York.
15 de jul. de 2015 · Duchamp quiso transmitir algo tan noble y serio como una idea, probablemente un “Fuck You” a la comunidad artística internacional. Pero resulta que en el 2004 esta “Fuente” fue votada como “la obra de arte más influyente del siglo XX” por 500 reputados profesionales del sector. Y seguramente lo sea. Ver para creer.
Fuente (1917) es un readymade, (también objeto encontrado, del francés objet trouvé) de Marcel Duchamp, [2] pieza fundacional de una manifestación artística consistente en la utilización de objetos ya existentes y que normalmente no se consideran artísticos, dotándolos de un nuevo significado.

20 de oct. de 2020 · Fountain is one of Duchamp's most famous works and is widely seen as an icon of twentieth-century art. The original, which is now lost, consisted of a standard urinal, laid flat on its back rather than upright in its usual position, and signed 'R. Mutt 1917'.
