The Thief and the Cobbler is an unfinished animated fantasy film co-written and directed by Richard Williams. Originally devised in the 1960s, the film was in and out of production for nearly three decades due to independent funding and ambitiously complex animation.

The film was conceived by Canadian animator Richard Williams, who worked for nearly three decades on the project. Beginning production in 1964, Williams intended The Thief and the Cobbler to be his masterpiece, and a milestone in the art of animation.

La película, famosa por su animación y por su larga producción, llena de obstáculos, retrasos y dificultades, fue concebida por el animador canadiense Richard Williams, quien trabajó 28 años en el proyecto.
