Steven Patrick Garvey (born December 22, 1948) is an American former professional baseball player and candidate in the upcoming 2024 United States Senate election in California. He played in Major League Baseball as a first baseman for the Los Angeles Dodgers and San Diego Padres from 1969 to 1987.
Steve Garvey was drafted by the Minnesota Twins in the 3rd round of the 1966 MLB June Amateur Draft from Chamberlain HS (Tampa, FL) and the Los Angeles Dodgers in the 1st round (13th) of the 1968 MLB June Draft-Secondary Phase from Michigan State University (East Lansing, MI).

Garvey played as a first baseman for the Los Angeles Dodgers and the San Diego Padres from 1969 to 1987, was a 10-time All-Star, National League Most Valuable Player in 1974, and National League Championship Series MVP in 1978 and 1984.

Steve Garvey was not the first Los Angeles Dodgers player to win the All-Star Game Most Valuable Player Award, that honor went to Maury Wills (1962), but he was the first to receive the honor twice (1974, 1978).
