He was the last character to be voiced by Vincent Price. The film was initially released in Australia on September 23, 1993 (one month before his death from Parkinson's disease on October 25 that same year at the age of 82), which would make this his final role.
Vincent Price was hired to perform the voice of the villain, Anwar (later re-named "Zigzag"), originally assigned to Kenneth Williams. Sir Anthony Quayle was cast as King Nod. Price was hired to make the villain more enjoyable for Williams, as he was a great fan of Vincent Price's work and ZigZag was based on "two people Williams hated."
