Chromatin is a complex of DNA and protein found in eukaryotic cells. The primary function is to package long DNA molecules into more compact, denser structures.
Hace 6 días · Chromatin refers to a mixture of DNA and proteins that form the chromosomes found in the cells of humans and other higher organisms. Many of the proteins — namely, histones — package the massive amount of DNA in a genome into a highly compact form that can fit in the cell nucleus.

Chromatin The complexes between eukaryotic DNA and proteins are called chromatin , which typically contains about twice as much protein as DNA. The major proteins of chromatin are the histones —small proteins containing a high proportion of basic amino acids (arginine and lysine) that facilitate binding to the negatively charged DNA molecule.

Its basic structure is essentially the same in nearly all eukaryotes, from single-celled yeasts to the most complex multicellular organisms (exceptions include the chromatin of dinoflagellates and vertebrate sperm).
