Portrait of Henry VIII is a lost painting by Hans Holbein the Younger depicting Henry VIII. It is one of the most iconic images of Henry VIII and is one of the most famous portraits of any English or British monarch.

The present portrait, previously in a private English collection, has been dated in the 1530s. It depicts Henry in an almost frontal pose similar to one used by Holbein in various other portraits. The head, with its distant gaze, has an almost architectural solidity and strength as Pope-Hennessy noted.

Hans Holbein the Younger (Augusta 1497 – London 1543) Portrait of Henry VIII. The inscription on the blue ground informs us that the English sovereign Henry VIII was forty-nine years of age when Holbein painted this portrait, on the occasion of the King’s fourth marriage.
A large fragment of the full-size cartoon for the mural, featuring both Henry VII and Henry VIII, survives in London's National Portrait Gallery, but this depicts Henry in a three-quarters view rather than the head-on stance of the mural. The portrait is a masterpiece of propaganda.
