Marc Chagall was born on July 7 in Vitebsk, a provincial town in the vast Russian Empire, located in present-day Belarus. Moyshe Segal—his real name—was born into a modest Jewish family. He was the first of nine children (seven girls and two boys).
Biografía. Nació en Liozna, Gobernación de Vítebsk (hoy en Bielorrusia) y era el mayor de nueve hermanos provenientes de una familia de judíos. El nombre de su madre era Felga-Ita.
