Bernburg liegt an der Saale südlich der sachsen-anhaltischen Hauptstadt Magdeburg und nördlich von Halle (Saale). Seine Lage südlich der Gletschervorstöße der letzten Eiszeit (vor etwa 12.000 Jahren) mitten im Schwarzerdegebiet der Magdeburger Börde bietet landwirtschaftlich gute Voraussetzungen.
