Krumpendorf stretches along the northern shore of Wörthersee, Carinthia's largest bathing lake. The municipal area with 11.86 km 2 (4.58 sq mi) is the smallest of all Carinthian municipalities. In the east, it borders on the state capital Klagenfurt.

Krumpendorf liegt im Süden Österreichs im Kärntner Unterland am Nordufer des Wörthersees und grenzt an die Landeshauptstadt Klagenfurt. Das Gemeindegebiet erstreckt sich über einen relativ schmalen Streifen am Seeufer, der bis über den Nohrenberg reicht, und ist mit einer Fläche von 11,89 km² die kleinste Gemeinde Kärntens.
