Tangermünde es una ciudad alemana, ubicada en el distrito de Stendal, en la parte noreste del Estado federal de Sajonia-Anhalt, a orillas del río Elba en la región de Altmark.
Tangermünde is situated in the historic Altmark region of the North German Plain, on a glacial terminal moraine, above the left shore of the Elbe. The town's name derives from the mouth ( German : Mündung ) of the Tanger tributary.
Tangermuende can look back on almost 1000 years of history. Brick buildings, an almost closed, sometimes massive city wall with fortified gates, the castle complex and the multitude of half-timbered houses give the city a unique charm.
