  3. James, 5th Duke of Hamilton, was renowned as a very handsome and graceful man, thus many portraits of him exist. A Tory who intrigued with the exiled Stuart dynasty, he was created a Knight of the Thistle in 1723 by the titular James III, and again in 1726 by George I.
