James V (10 April 1512 – 14 December 1542) was King of Scotland from 9 September 1513 until his death in 1542. He was crowned on 21 September 1513 at the age of seventeen months. James was the son of King James IV and Margaret Tudor, daughter of Henry VII of England.

King James V. James V lived from 10 April 1512 to 14 December 1542 and was King of Scotland from 9 September 1513 until 14 December 1542. He was born at Linlithgow Palace and became an infant King when his father James IV was killed at the Battle of Flodden on 9 September 1513.
James V became King aged just seventeen months when his father, James IV, was killed at the Battle of Flodden in 1513. Initially, his mother, Margaret of England was his ‘tutrix’ and Governor of the kingdom, but she forfeited this position (most unwillingly) when she remarried.
