Our Lady of Mount Carmel, or Virgin of Carmel, is the title given to the Blessed Virgin Mary in her role as patroness of the Carmelite Order, particularly within the Catholic Church. The first Carmelites were Christian hermits living on Mount Carmel in the Holy Land during the late 12th and early to mid-13th century.

8 de ene. de 2018 · East Harlem in New York City marks the day with an annual festival for Our Lady of Mount Carmel, which has been held annually since 1881. The Feast is especially important in those congregations that hold special reverence for the Virgin Mary, especially in southern Italy.
Carmel Today. Today the Carmelite Family, approximately 2,000 Carmelite men, 800 contemplative nuns, 2,300 members of affiliate congregations and 9,200 Lay Carmelites, live in 47 countries throughout the world.

Our Lady of Mount Carmel is one of the top five most common, and possibly the most common, name for a Church around the world and one of the most recognized and universally celebrated titles for Our Lady. We would love to hear how communities from around the world celebrate July 16th.
The Virgin Mary in this series of claimed visitations is often referred to as "Our Lady of Mount Carmel of Garabandal", because her appearance and dress looked like portrayals of Our Lady of Mount Carmel.
