The 1632 series, also known as the 1632-verse or Ring of Fire series, is an alternate history book series and sub-series created, primarily co-written, and coordinated by American author Eric Flint and published by Baen Books.

Ring of Fire is the third published book by editor-author-historian Eric Flint of the 1632 series, an alternate history series begun in the novel 1632 (February 2000). [1] . The Ring of Fire is both descriptive of the cosmic event as experienced by the series' characters, but also is at times used as the name for the series itself.

On August 16, 2022, Lucille Robbins, the widow of Eric Flint, officially announced the immediate shutdown of both The Grantville Gazette and the Ring of Fire Press. Without a huge infusion of new cash, it was determined that both business ventures would not be economically viable without Flint's participation.

The series focus on the late 20th century town of Grantville and its population that were astronomically transported by a " Ring of Fire " to the midst of 17th-century Europe during the Thirty Years' War (1618-1648). 20 de jul. de 2022 · Along with Walt Boyes and Joy Ward, Flint established Eric Flint’s Ring of Fire Press in 2013. He was an early proponent of DRM-free e-books and was the first curator of the Baen Free Library. Flint’s philosophy was that “The real enemy of authors—especially midlist writers—is not piracy, it’s obscurity.”
Ring of Fire is a collection of short stories —half by established science fiction authors invited into the setting, half fan-fiction by enthusiasts who helped take the stand alone novel into a series numbering works in the tens of books. All are set in the universe initially created by Flint's science fiction novel 1632.
