The exact date of the grant is uncertain, but in 1201 Hubert was seised of four and a quarter knights' fees in Hampshire, (fn. 12) and it seems likely that the manor of Ashe was included in these.

29 de may. de 2024 · The rights claimed by Anselm de Gyse in 1287 as pertaining to his manor of Aspley were view of frankpledge, free warren granted to him by Henry III in 1267, and rights of gallows and tumbrils, which Hubert de Burgh had in the manor in the early part of the 13th century. John de Gyse also claimed to have similar rights with pillory in 1331.
Hace 6 días · From Rainald de Warenne the manor descended for a time with Plumpton (q.v.), until Portslade was granted in 1217 by William Bardolf to his step-father, Hubert de Burgh, second husband of Beatrice. (fn. 14) This grant was confirmed in 1226 to Hubert, who was to perform the service of 10 knights' fees for the manor, (fn. 15) which fees were said to be held of the manor of Plumpton.

The Stuteviles were lords and patrons, and Nicholas granted the advowson to Hubert de Burgh, Earl of Kent, who granted it by deed, sans date, to the canons of Walsingham.

The advowson belonged to the manor, till Mr. Earle settled it on Pembrook Hall in Cambridge, who are always to nominate two of their fellows to the lord of the manor, who must present one of them so nominated. 1283 John de Wyckham was rector, and the living was then worth 60 marks a year.
