Gable then starred as the romantic lead in Strange Interlude (1932), again teaming with Shearer, the second of three films they would make together for MGM.

Los productores no tuvieron ningún problema de censura ya que aun no existía la FCC (Federal Communications Commission), sin embargo, se vieron obligados a retirar dicha escena por la presión de los grupos religiosos conservadores y de madres indignadas por la supuesta inmoralidad de las imágenes.
