Hace 5 días · The story of Kilkenny Castle begins in 1195 when the Anglo-Norman lord Richard de Clare constructed a wooden fortification on the site. This early structure, however, was short-lived. In 1210, the renowned knight William Marshal replaced it with a formidable stone castle, laying the foundation for the fortress we see today (O‘Brien, 2012, p. 23).
