23 de may. de 2024 · Philip Mountbatten was actually born as Prince Philip of Greece and Denmark, but renounced his royal titles prior to his marriage to the heir to the British throne in 1947. His new surname of Mountbatten came from his mother's parents, who had adopted it themselves during the First World War after all members of the British Royal Family were required to renounce any German royal titles they held.

They had two daughters and two sons, George (1892–1938), 2nd marquess, and Louis, afterward Earl Mountbatten of Burma. A grandson (through his daughter Princess Alice) is Prince Philip, duke of Edinburgh, husband of Queen Elizabeth II.
