Joan Miró. Joan Miró (20 April 1893 – 25 December 1983) was a Spanish painter, sculptor and ceramicist. He was born in Barcelona. He died of heart disease in Palma, Majorca. A museum dedicated to his work, the Fundación Joan Miró, was opened in Barcelona in 1975. Joan Miró started painting when he was fourteen he attended an art school.
