10 de jun. de 2020 · In 1543, Nicolas Copernicus published his De revolutionibus orbium coelestium, in which he proposed a radical reordering of the celestial order that put the Sun at the center of planetary motion. The proposal was a profound departure from the prevailing geocentric cosmology in the sixteenth century, which was largely based on Aristotelian physics and Ptolemaic astronomy.

Así, el 10 de mayo de 1543 (el 20 de mayo en nuestro calendario) Copérnico recibió el primer ejemplar de De Revolutionubus Orbium Coelestium (Sobre la Revolución de las Esferas Celestes), pero no lo pudo leer, estaba enfermo, solo una chispa de lucidez lo animó y contempló la obra de 46 años de su vida, a los cuatro días, el 14 de mayo de 1543 (24 de mayo) murió.
