  4. José Ruiz y Blasco (1838–1913) was a Spanish painter, an art teacher, and the father of artist Pablo Picasso (1881–1973). He was born in Málaga, Spain where he became a teacher of drawing at the Escuela Provincial de Bellas Artes. He specialized in images of doves and pigeons. He gave his son his first art lessons in 1888.
