Mary of York was the second daughter of King Edward IV of England and his queen consort Elizabeth Woodville. She spent her early years in close connection with her older sister Elizabeth of York. Raised and educated together, the princesses were accustomed to frequent relocations between royal residences and participated in court festivities and state visits.

11 de ago. de 2022 · Mary of York, 1467-1482. Mary was the second daughter, born 11 August, 1467 at Windsor Castle. She was promised in marriage to the King of Denmark, but died in 1482 before the marriage could take place. She is buried in St. George’s Chapel, Windsor.

She essentially lived the life of a court damoiselle in the Queen’s household, except of course she was privileged and honored as a princess of the blood. Once an adolescent, discussion of her marriage began.
26 de dic. de 2019 · In 1516, Catherine was asked to be godmother to the future Queen Mary I. She lived out her last years in quiet and died in November 1527 at Tiverton Castle. She was buried in the Tiverton parish church, but her tomb has not survived. She would be the last of the York sisters to die. 1

She was the daughter of King Edward IV and his wife, Elizabeth Woodville , and her marriage to Henry VII followed his victory at the Battle of Bosworth Field , which marked the end of the Wars of the Roses .
