He was the brother of Sir Scrope Howe and Emmanuel Scrope Howe. Marriage and family . He married (license 30 April 1683) Mary Baskerville, daughter and co-heir of Sir Humphrey Baskerville, of Pontrilas, Herefordshire, and widow of Sir Edward Morgan, 3rd Bart. Howe was the son of Sir Richard Grobham Howe, 2nd Baronet, and his wife Lucy St John, daughter of Sir John St John, 1st Baronet, of Lydiard Tregoze, Wiltshire. He matriculated at Christ Church, Oxford, on 13 July 1667. On 12 August 1673, he married Mary Thynne, daughter of Sir Henry Frederick Thynne, 1st Baronet, of Kempsford, Glocestershire.
10 de ene. de 2020 · Grobham died in 1629 leaving his widow in possession with remainder to his nephew George Grobham of Broomfield. George died probably in 1646, and in 1652 John Howe the elder, husband of Sir Richard's sister and heir Jane, together with a Richard Grobham, were apparently in possession of the estate.
In 1673 his cousin (Sir) George Grobham Howe was said to be intending to bring him in for Hindon, but before any vacancy occurred there a higher honour came his way. Lord Cornbury ( Henry Hyde ) succeeded to the peerage, and Howe was elected to fill the vacancy as knight of the shire on the nomination of the lord lieutenant ( Lord John Seymour ).
