Breaking the Waves wordt halverwege al twijfelachtig als Bess haar gedrag op zijn minst opmerkelijk wordt. Zo was alleen het begin van de film boeiend. Ik zag niet lang geleden de serie Riget en het viel me op hoe herkenbaar het werk van Von Trier hier dan is, zowel qua vormgeving als inhoud.
